Today is the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday…

I want to reflect on an article I was sent back in 1999, when putting together a list of charities to benefit from a concert that was being prepared to move into the 21st Century…This was one of the charities…Oxfam America…

“Many believe blacks must participate in the structure of American capitalism in order to prosper as individuals and communities.  Ownership, the bedrock of American society and measure of success, makes citizens free to master their own destinies.  Ownership brings leverage in American economic life and, subsequently, social and political spheres.  Lack of ownership, many believe, has kept blacks and minorities in an inferior social position in which financial resources are squandered to maintain the success of already powerful whites.”

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. believed and spoke upon equality for Black Americans economically, as a key factor in achieving racial equality, and spoke upon it in many of his speeches on the long road to establishing Civil Rights for Americans of African ancestry…decades before organizations like Oxfam took up the journey to solidify processes and progress in this still long, long road to racial equality…

Where are we in education…housing…jobs…equal pay…civil rights…freedom…the American Dream…Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Dream?

When you look at America today…do you see progress or a train running backwards down a hill… headed for certain destruction? Do you see hope for a brighter future? Or positive changes unraveling and being taken apart…taking a country back to savage beginnings it takes pride in clinging to?

How can we…honor the best of ourselves…by implementing that best into the fabric of a nation torn and tattered by division and despair? How can we ensure the promise of America, when days like today come…and remind us what living and living in America…and the world, is really all about?

Take today and remember…take today and what it really means to dream a dream of peace…unity…humanhood…community…liberty…freedom…and make it your reality to create a world that can continue to achieve and sustain the better part of humanity’s contributions in ensuring a future for generations…

I have a dream…

That we will wake up…create the dream…and live it….

The Needs of the Many Outweigh the Wants of the Few…

Bravo to Martina Navratilova! She told Australian television that Novak Djokovic needed to “suck it up” and return home. She went on to say, “The bottom line is, sometimes your personal beliefs have to be trumped by what’s good for the greater good, for those around you, for your peers.” You have two choices, get vaccinated or just don’t go play.”

Absolutely! He would be supporting his personal beliefs by just going home. Yet, he insists on infringing upon the rights of the Australian government to protect their country against a ravaging surge of Covid-19, by allowing him in, against their protocols. Djokovic has been infected with Covid-19, and is a potential carrier, who is against getting vaccinated….Truly his right…but not his right to force accepting him into the country because of his number one status in the Tennis world. His ego cannot protect others he may likely infect if he is allowed to stay and play… Being responsible is what gains respect and admiration…not playing games where you will come into contact with others, and possible cause unnecessary illness…and possibly death. No win…or award…or title, is above human life…Djokovic should know this…respect the Australian government, their citizens…and himself, and make a choice.

He has apparently, and expect others to go against their beliefs…for him.

Clay feet and small minds do not make heroes…

Go home, Djokovic…

The needs of the many outweigh the “wants” of the few…

Stirring up the few, in support of your belief is lead by emotions…not by logic.

Continuing to cave in and abandon what is right by catering to the needs of the few… with selfish intent…will continue to ensure that the future of the next generations will come to a close at this century’s end…maybe sooner.

Stand your ground, Australia…

Maybe it will rub off on your cousin…America….

January 6, 2021…The Day Democracy Died…With “Greatness”…

There are always comments made about America being the “Greatest country in the world.” What is this country great for?

On January 6, 2021…came an answer.

Great is defined as “Of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average.”

On January 6, 2021…The Capitol of our country was stormed and desecrated…with a chilling display of “great.”

The level of violence, destruction, and disregard of life and country…was of an extent, amount and intensity, considerably above the normal or average… defiling… with complete disregard for our democracy.

Freedom of Speech is one thing….acting upon misinformation that creates insurrection and complete disrespect to a system–although imperfect–that had kept America in check…was treasonous…a death blow to Democracy…Where does that leave America?

The division between the parties…and the continuing battles to wrestle power to one side of the aisle over the other…and the continued engagement and promoting of the “Big Lie” by the “elephant clan” has destroyed Democracy…Just as Covid-19 is cleaning house against the world population…factions that took oaths to protect our country against its enemies…haven’t yet realized that they are the enemies…and they are cleaning house on the American population….with some help and assistance…from a great part of the American population!

“Unity” is nothing more than a five lettered word…without substance or meaning. Certain people are still entrenched in the “Me-Me-Me” club…and they are still in operation on The Hill….

Meanwhile…our country is going down for the third time in a grand state of confusion…from Covid-19, to party politics…the saddest part…the whole world is watching…real “greatness.”

January 6, 2021…The Day Democracy Died…with “Greatness.”

January 6, 2022…take a moment to recollect…and decide…Can we rise from the ashes?

Let the people decide…

How much do you love your country… Do you love it enough to support and give meaning to…and back “Unity?” Having and defending your rights…does not mean doing, supporting and engaging in wrong.…

Revive Democracy by cleaning house on The Hill… Don’t fall victim to “Red or Blue…” Have ears to hear and eyes to see….

Guard…protect and defend…your voice…

Once you let them gain control of your voice…you will be silenced…

Your Vote…is your Voice…

Take heed…they have already initiated the Process of Silence…

It would be a miracle if the American people can actually believe in anyone who promises to make life livable…if we would elect them President of the United States…

We have been electing politicians who have been recycling promises and re-gifting the proverbial “fruitcake” for so long…that we’ve grown to accept the repetitive song and dance…

Joe Biden is no different…He is after all a “career” politician. It was everyone’s wish that he would be different…different in the way that he would really be for the people and truly fight for the things that would give every American a hand up receiving a genuine opportunity at having and achieving a life of quality in a country that so proudly boasts about being the best in the world….

Strength is not measured in words…but in actions.

There is one thing that can be done which will give millions of Americans a hand up and boost our economy at the same time…Homes can be purchased…savings can be had…futures can be certain… If only the President had the courage and the foresight to do the right thing….and deliver a deed which will set him apart from the redundant crowd he clings so loyally to…

We gave Joe Biden his dream…

It’s time he stepped up to the plate and start demonstrating to the American people that he can move mountains…

It is solely within your power to do so….Yours and yours alone. You don’t need the House or the Senate…just pick up your pen and make it happen. You know you can…You can legally cancel as much as $50,000 in federal student loans…You don’t need your your education secretary to prep a memo…that’s just a formality…You already know that you can…but you won’t…because you’re a career politician…and politics come before people…isn’t that right?

The Monotony of Madness…

Here we are…the 11th month of the year…one month away from the close of another twelve months. Where are we? Step away from your life for one moment and ponder the thought, “Where are we?” How far has America progressed in the course of this year? Have we made any strides toward unifying the ocean of divide that runs through the cracks, fissures and gorges left behind by those sworn to rebuild and revitalize a country still riddled by the monotony of madness they created and continue to cultivate?

It is crucial that our structure of government and politicians past and present be carefully and meticulously scrutinized and held to accountability…unless their monotony of madness has become the American way of life, and living marginally is acceptable!

Late night hosts make jokes…

People are caught up in rebellion and protests about their “rights”…while Covid continues to find them…and lay “their rights” to rest…permanently.

The surge of weather changes which people in denial continue to relay as “normal changes which occur every 100 years” are swept away by floods, waves, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and other dire demonstrations of nature…caused by man’s interference…resulting in climate change…which is well on it’s way to restructuring the planet…and human life.

Where does that leave us?

Stuck…in the Monotony of Madness….

October is Here…Now What?

We have entered the tenth month much the same as the last nine…Covid-19 statistics and push-back dramas…immigration fiascos…turning back the clock on personal freedoms…climate change eruptions making it clear that climate change IS here and making bold statements in weather delivery to reach those still in denial of environmental damage brought on by humankind’s ignorance in preserving and caring for the planet that sustains us…and due to such ignorance…may not be able to sustain us in the decades to come…

Political infighting which in itself is the foremost danger to the survival of democracy and the beloved dream of a free America…And while we are all trying our best to support…respect…and reach out to those in need…we are well below the standard of raising our compassion to the level of at least 50% in this country…let alone, around the globe.

Another year about to pass and leave us with…What? Dare we say…more human chaos? Or can we say maybe a slight improvement over last year?

We must open our eyes and our hearts with the recognition and knowledge that life will never be the same as it was at the beginning of 2019…or 1999…We must move forward and weather the storms that are materializing in our path of humanity with unity and vision toward improving upon the human condition…and include plans to immediately implement change to prevent any further damage to our environment…this is the only way to ensuring a path forward for our moment of now…and future generations…some of which are here now…and fighting to secure a future for themselves and their children…and their children’s children.

We can no longer afford to indulge in the nonsense and nonsense of those who are destroying and making a mockery of our nation…through the ineptitude of what is coming from political parties…both Blue and Red, and in between…leaving the American people as well as Allies of our country, caught in the middle, and viewed as nothing more than expendable, collateral damage… Those factions who swore allegiance to upholding the integrity and the Constitution of the United States of America…

The only terrorists we have to fear at present are those who are in constant battle tearing our country apart…upon Capitol Hill….A true democracy does not use its power to “best” and tear down opposite beliefs of its constituency…it works to find compromise to best preserve and build continuity of unity…strengthened by the body of core beliefs upon which freedom is guaranteed and supported…Instead, we are delivered constantly into the pit of division…and chaos.

At this pace…the only change that will come is a country wrought with such fracture and division…nothing will prevent it from ultimately falling apart….

The only masks that need to come off right here and right now are the masks of denial and delusion.

October is Here…

Now What?

Now we stop pretending…

We stop holding back…

We start caring…

We start rebuilding…

We start unifying…

We take a second look at who we the people let run our country…on all sides of the political spectrum…and honestly take a look at where you are because of it…and where you are headed because of it…don’t take sides…take heart…take objectivity…and stop to honestly evaluate where your life will be in two months….six months…a year…is it acceptable to you? To your families? To a better America? A better world?

Take a good long look…

Look hard…

Life is not ever going to go back to where it was…

The time is here to make a change to guarantee a future…

What Now?

That answer rests with all of us….

Remembering The Unity of 9/11….

Every year for 20 years we remember the horrors and tragedy of September 11, 2001…

When terrorists desecrated U.S. soil and unleashed the unimaginable and the unthinkable…the cost of civilian and service men and women lives was staggering…and still continues in the aftermath due to exposures to the fallout and trauma of that day. It changed the emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual landscape of our country…forever.

As a nation, we became our best at our worst…We harnessed a unity that extended to every corner of our wounded America…and we witnessed a strength in that connectivity that was impenetrable.

That “impenetrable connectivity” should always be remembered…and practiced at every turn… We need that unity now more than ever!

We must remember…for all of those we lost that day…their sacrifice must always be our fuel to come together for the good of all…They gave their lives…consciously and unconsciously, so America could continue to be…Free.

Remember that the next time someone breaks from that unity…and attempts to initiate actions that may result in the loss of freedom for another…will you “connect” or “disconnect?”

If those passengers on Flight 93 chose to disconnect, do you dare to think what magnitude of damage and loss and change to our history that would have occurred…had those terrorists succeeded in reaching their designated target? They sacrificed their lives for their belief in America…and their love for our country.

We must never forget the beautiful demonstration of unity…

We must never forget the sacrifices…

We must always remember and practice being our best…whatever “worse” arises…

9/11 will forever be our badge of courage to move forward the dreams and freedom of America…

Start today……

To Love

Is to find…

For Love is pure…

It does not hide.

To bare one’s soul

Is to be alone…

For Honesty

Is a large pill to shallow…

To Be

Is to first exist…

How can we?

If we do not Love….

We must find love…it is our only salvation. If we continue to embrace what is shallow…materialistic and fleeting…we will not prevail and humanity will cease to be.

America…

It is crucial that we understand the importance of what this country should stand for…it is of high importance that we understand our connectivity and what it means to be guardians…shepherds…preservers…and respecters of life…in respecting life we respect the freedom of others…without impositions of our will…yet, this is a double-edged sword…because in respecting others we must be inclusive, open to all views…yet find the common ground of compromise…

If we understand what love is…and find the road to love…we will unite our country…as well as ourselves… Eventually…our world.

To Love…

Is to Find…

For Love is Pure…

It does not hide…

Are We So Unlike Our Enemies?

Are we so unlike our enemies…or those we choose to judge?

Texas passed a restrictive abortion ban after the Supreme Court declined to step in and stop the law from taking women back ages in their rights to choose what happens within their own bodies…

The GOP is really “The Taliban” operating freely within America…picking and choosing what they feel is best for American citizens without considering Civil Rights…Civil Liberties…Human Rights…Freedom…and Democracy.

It goes without saying that Republicans have no respect or sovereignty to the Constitution of the United States. 

We have all stood by and bore witness to their treason and insurrectionist actions with impunity…

Are We So Unlike Our Enemies?

If we choose to blindly accept what the GOP has done in taking our country backwards in their ideologies of governing by restrictions and manipulations around democracy… limiting women’s rights to choose pretending to care about babies not yet born while murdering and lynching children of people of color…as well as taking the lives of people of color…along with their efforts to overturn Roe Vs. Wade in red states and restrict voting rights in order to boost their majority power to take our country back to the dark ages of human savagery, don’t we deserve to fall as Afghanistan…and other countries laid to waste because they believed in Democracy without stronger unification to protect it?

It is beyond hypocritical to defend life not yet born…when every day a person of color falls to discriminate loss of life–someone’s child—just because…and someone’s child falls victim to gun violence because little boys and little girls acting in the capacity of grownups in high places… want to have their “right to bear arms” regardless of the consequential and horrific loss of life that comes with uncontrolled access in the ability to obtain weapons…Yet they care about restricting a woman’s right to her own body…because they want to “protect” the unborn…When they can’t and refuse to protect the lives of all  American citizens by breaking…bending…and completely ignoring laws that are made to protect them.  Welcome to democracy in America!

While the awakening to equality has been a snail’s pace in recognition…we must remember the lives continually being lost in this never ending battle for “blind” equality for all…without the stigma of racism.

Are We So Unlike Our Enemies?!

Take a good, long look around America…Then take a good, long look around the world… Are we so different? Our ways are more refined and “educated”…Like Judas and Jesus…Judas was an “educated” man…

America will fall to a menagerie of greed and prejudices…and democracy will cease to be recognized, let alone respected…if we do not weed out “The Taliban” and domestic terrorism which is alive and well and functioning in our own country…here and now…from one day to the next…within a government which once stood for something…now perceived as a “paper tiger.”

Are we so unlike our enemies?

Time to prove that we are not…the enemy.

Time to show “true colors.”

Time to stand and protect…Freedom.

Without Freedom…

There is no Democracy…

Without Democracy….

There is no America.

We are just another…Enemy.

“Blessed are the hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken.”

I wonder what Albert Camus was going through when he made this wonderful observation that is now a quote credited to him…

It is most applicable in these most dire times of our day to day living…

We must learn to teach our hearts to bend with the trials and tribulations that confront us from moment to moment, daily…or we will find ourselves overcome with the trauma of our hearts being broken…at every turn…and unless we know how to bend…we will surely perish under the onslaught…

In order to find the light at the end of tumultuous tunnels…we must become the light.

We must learn to see all sides of every situation…and choose to do what is best not only for ourselves…but for the good of others as well.

We must understand what breaks hearts…and not be a contributor in causing heartbreak for others, as well as ourselves.

In learning to bend our hearts to avoid heartbreak, we can also help others in learning to bend…It isn’t love that breaks hearts…it’s people…

Love is the great teacher…that helps us to bend…

In order to receive it we must open our hearts…

How do we understand love?

We graciously and unconditionally accept it…

And gift it to others…by sharing it…even in our darkest of times…because Love Is…and always will be…Humanity’s saving grace.

Blessed are the hearts that can bend…they shall never be broken…

For these are the hearts that have accepted the healing…bending…

And regenerative…Power of Love….

Today in America…and the world over…We need hearts to bend.
