Thank you, Mississippi…for once again demonstrating your appreciation and “preservation” of life and rights…
A few of your stellar examples are Emmett Till…
James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner…
Medgar Evers…
Mississippi…The state with the most documented lynchings…
Appealing to the Supreme Court after a federal district court agreed that the state enacted law banning abortion after 15 weeks was unconstitutional…
Such an exemplary record…in depriving life…civil rights…and human rights!
The torture…mutilation…and murder of Emmett Till…a 14-year-old…August 28, 1955…
The murders of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner…three civil rights activists…known as the Freedom Summer murders…June 21, 1964…
Medgar Evers was assassinated by white supremacists on June 12, 1963…He was a civil rights activist and the NAACP’s first field secretary…
What about the value of the lives of the aforementioned? What about the pain and suffering their loss of life incurred? Why weren’t they protected? Where were their civil and human rights?
The citizens and the state of Mississippi ended lives…took away civil and human rights from countless individuals they had no authority or rights to do so…and were allowed to do so…with premeditation and malice…without accountability…
Now…Mississippi’s continued interference in dictating a woman’s right to her body by restricting her freedom to choose how she can proceed with her reproductive and health rights…forcing rape and incest acts to prevail in a victim’s life…should pregnancy result from such brutal and invasive, forced events…has catapulted women’s rights back to the dark ages!
Pro-life advocates have forgotten one, crucial fact…
Your views on abortion…are your views…your right…and YOUR choice!
Pro-choice advocates are entitled to their views…their rights…and THEIR choice!
That is what “freedom” means…
Civil and human rights ARE NOT infringed upon by YOUR views…or YOUR choices…
Forcing your values and your views upon and into the lives of those outside of your life…is not your business!
Family members are entitled to their choices…you can agree to disagree…and if you love them…you support them…no matter what…because their book of life records their choices…not you…their emotions are theirs to bear…not yours…respect life by respecting their choices…not yours.
When will people understand that you do not “own” people?
Unborn souls are not voiceless…and they do not need anyone to speak for them…the “voice” that speaks for them is greater than your own…
Will you take the blood of an unwanted birth on your hands…should their life end abusively because their birth was forced?
Forcing your views upon others only results in tragedy in the long run…
Do you…and let others do what is best for them…
Roe v. Wade protected the personal choice of women…their health and safety… and their decisions to end pregnancies due to circumstances which adversely affected their physical, spiritual, mental and emotional well-being…inclusive of poverty and financial solvency…
This misplaced pro-life movement and “old world” Republican Supreme Court Jurists have placed many women in danger…
There will be an increase in suicides…
Their will be an increase in deaths from unsafe terminations…
There will be a rise in mental illness in women forced into motherhood…especially bearing children from incest and rape…
There will be more infants abandoned…or worse still…more infant and child abuse and mortality…
Women are not objects…they do not need other people to decide how they choose to manage their lives and their bodies…
Their choices do not need to be agreeable to anyone outside of themselves…
When we come to the end of our lives…our life journey and choice accountability is not in the hands of any human being…
Those who have taken on the role of a “supreme being” will stand most accountable at the end of their life’s journey…that is as certain as death and taxes…whether they paid taxes or not.
Thank you, Mississippi…
For reminding us that we who do understand what it means to protect rights on every level…Civil…Human…Women’s…have a long road ahead of us…
Once racism and misogyny are conquered…freedom and human rights will be understood…celebrated…and protected without hindrance…
Until then…
We take up the sword…
Armor up…
And continue…
