The Celebration Continues…Kwanzaa!

Unity…Creativity…Faith…Giving gifts…December 26 to January 1, is the annual celebration of African-American culture; leading up to Karamu, a Feast of Faith…

The celebration begins in succession with Kukaribisha (Welcoming)…Kuumba (Remembering)…Kuchunguza Tena Na Kutoa Ahadi Tena (Reassessment and Recommitment)…Kushangilia (Rejoicing)…Tamshi la Timbiko (Libation Statement)…Tamshi la Tutaonana (The Farewell Statement)…

The Swahili phrase, matunda ya kwanza, means “first fruits.” First fruits festivals take place in Southern Africa, which are celebrated in December/January with the southern solstice…Kwanzaa is spelled with an additional “a” so that it would bear a symbolic seven letters…as it occurs over seven days…which dedicates each day to one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa…Nguzo Saba.

Kwanzaa is celebrated by all…

Unity…Creativity…Faith…Giving gifts…a celebration of culture…wonderful reasons to be communal in recognition and celebration…The diversity of human beings..is divine! And should be so honored…Unity…is the key….

Joyous Kwanzaa to all!
